Easy Crab Salad Recipe

If you want a tasty and easy salad that requires no cooking, this crab salad is perfect for you. It’s great for serving guests, enjoying by yourself, or bringing to a potluck. I love it so much that I eat it straight from the bowl with a spoon!

I love a good crab salad, but what I don’t love is imitation crab. Imitation crab is a highly processed food and may contain MSG. When I am cooking, I like to use minimally processed foods and sustainable ingredients and of good quality. With that said, real crab can get pricey, especially when making a large batch. The solution? Pollock!

Polluck is a real fish that tastes very much like crab and is more reasonably priced than crab. It is also responsibly harvested under the United States regulations, unlike imitation crab, which does not list all the ingredients used . I discovered pollock at a local Sprouts Market under their refrigerated section. It looks and tastes just like crab, slightly less fishy. I also loved that it was wild caught, and try my best to purchase wild caught when it comes to fish.

It is best to serve this salad right away. If you end up with leftovers, place them in an airtight container and refrigerate for no longer two days.

Lastly, this crab salad recipe comes together in 15 minutes and tastes like it took much longer! I can’t wait until you make it and try it for yourself! I would love to know your thoughts if you try this salad.

Let’s get started!

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 4-5Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients
12 oz. polluck
2 stalks celery *finely diced
1 small red onion or (half of a large red onion) *finely diced
1/2 cup green onions *thinly sliced *Optional-reserve 1 tbsp for garnish
1/2 salt
1/4 black pepper
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise *see note
1 tsp dijon mustard
4 tbsp lemon juice (about 2 freshly squeezed lemons)

*Note
If you are using store bought mayonnaise, I recommend avocado oil based mayonnaise. Traditional mayonnaise contains canola oil, which is a highly inflammatory ingredient I do not use in my cooking .
